First day, Monday morning, found the team getting a tour of the Point of Hope community by Sr. Bernadette. Shown here is the sign from 2005 and then the updated sign from our 2006 visit. |
Sr. Bernadette providing an overview of the Point of Hope community with Steve Matusheski, Andy Shillingsford and Al Worchesky. In addition, a tour of the newly planted vegetable garden. |

Larry, resident volunteer, providing breakfast for the team on Monday morning. |
Msgr. Beiting giving the team their marching orders. (OK, perhaps a story or two along the way.) |
The ingenious Andy reaching for one of those new high tech devices he uses... what's that Andy? A hammer? |
Here is Al doing some electrical work. Seems this particular task took more than one day. (We kept having to pick him up off the floor... )
ZZZZZAAAAAAPPPPPP! |
The quiet mannered, ever humble Steve, doing what he does best - laying flooring. No, we didn't say laying ON the floor, we said laying flooring.
:-) |
Under cover of darkness, Woody, Steve, Al, Andy and Bill perpetrate an apparent crime... |
Here is Woody, carrying his cross. Oh, no, wait! He's working on the cross.
Where did you get that cross Woody? Was it DARK when you got it?
Tune in below to learn more... |

Bill in the warehouse looking for materials (or something to that effect).
It seemed as though Bill was here...
a
lot. :-)
Did he get LOST there?
It IS big but... |
Shown here in this "before and after shot" of a wall and doorway we built into a sleeping area from the common area.
This sleeping area was originally one large room. We built a wall splitting it to accommodate separate male and female quarters.
This significant project required plumbing, electrical, flooring and finish work to construct a bathroom. Shown here are before and after shots of the vanity area. |
Similar efforts were required to construct the twin shower stalls. This included studding, plumbing and electrical work, as well as installing the vinyl shower stalls. |
Msgr. Beiting and friends on a final project inspection tour.
Marching order mission complete! |
Part of the Kentucky mission trip is spiritual growth. This included daily Mass in the morning, group reflection, prayer and discussion in the evening as well as individual time for reflection. During group time, different individuals take responsibility for leading that reflection. |
The team, representing the 6,300 souls of St. Theresa Parish, are shown here sharing the wealth and generosity of our parish with Msgr. Beiting and his ministry to the people of Louisa, Kentucky. |

What was taken under cover of darkness, returns. Shown here is the very surprised Msgr. Bieting as the team presents the newly refinished cross. |
As in 2005, Bill is shown here demonstrating his project management skills at work.
:-)
We love you man! |
