The Sister Parish Committee is committed to partnering with these parishes in Louisa, Kentucky (in the heart of poor Appalachia). This partnering consists of material help, a spiritual/prayer connection, visits by parish members and "hands-on" work projects as needed.
Below are a few photos from recent visits. Members of our church visit the parishes of Kentucky typically twice a year (Christmas gifts and the summer working trip) depending on needs. Watch this page for updates on activities and ways for you to participate if God is calling you to help.
The May 2007 trip is being planned now, please call the parish office (717.774.5918) if you are interested in learning more about this mission.

The 2007 Kentucky working trip with Joe Chiarella, Mike Ebersole, Tom Judge, Woody McGee, Steve Matusheski, Andy Shillingford, Bill Woodward and Al Worchesky. (Shown on the photo at left is an example of the stained glass artwork that the people at Point of Hope are making as a way to generate income.) |
| Dec 2006 | Bill Woodward, Andy Shillingsford and his daughter and John McGoldrick travelled to Louisa, KY (430 miles each way) over a weekend. | Once again the generosity of the people of St. Theresa made it possible, this time, to take three truckloads full of gifts, food, clothes and more to the people of Appalachia. |

Click the image at left or HERE to see a photo montage of the July 2005 "working" trip to Louisa. On this trip, we rehabilitated another trailer from start to finish. It now has a family plus an uncle living there. A family that otherwise would not have had a place to live. God is good! |
| June 2004 | Bill Woodward, Al Worcheski, Lou Jehosky, John Farmer, Joe Webster, Steve Morra, David Morra, Jim Scholz | These five "handymen" journey to Kentucky to rehabilitate a group of used trailors for the homeless of the area to use for homes. |
| Dec 2003 | Bill Woodward, Lou Jehosky and Jack Hanschel | Our parish donated many, many Christmas presents to the people of Kentucky. Bill, Lou and Jack drove the gifts down to them and helped to distribute them. |
| June 2003 | Bill Woodward, Lou Jehosky, Korri Morsey and Cathy Curran | These four members of our parish went to Kentucky to visit and learn about the parishes there and the needs of the communities. |
| May 2003 | Fr. Ralph Beiting | Fr. Beiting visits our parish to tell us about the challenges and the blessings of his mission in Kentucky. |
